I got a Dell.

My desktop at home died (again) this weekend. I had homework that was due at midnight last night that required a computer and internet access. I suppose I could have gone to the library, but instead, I went out and bought a new computer. I had been thinking about buying a laptop, but would have preferred to not be in the situation of walking into a store and needing to walk out with a computer.

So, I got a Dell laptop.

I'm still trying to get used to Vista, and verson of Microsoft Office I got. For the most part, I think it's a decent enough computer, but I don't really know what I'm talking about when it comes to that sort of thing. ;p

I'm having that weird day-light-savings time confusion thing all over again today. I'm guessing today must be the day that "should have" been the time change?

My New Toy

I've finally been getting fucked in the ass by Sprint long enough to qualify for an upgrade! w00t! Of course, after finding the link for my new phone on line to post for you fine folks, I see that I'm getting no better a deal than a brand new customer, so it's a good thing I'm still bent over.

I got The Rumor.

The slide-out full keyboard is cool, but took some getting used to. You see, I'm accustomed to having to press keys multiple times for certain letters. So, out of habit, at first, the word "Hello" came out "Hheellllllooo". Slightly annoying. :/

Taking the plunge.

I've begun the painfully tedious task of converting my journal to (mostly) friends-only. Pretty much anything pertaining to my personal life will be under friends-lock. Random silliness, religious/political views, and other posts that do not relate to my personal life will remain public.

So....uh....who wants to volunteer to make me a purty friends-only banner thing-a-ma-jig? *puppy dog eyes*

The other change that will take place is that all updates related to my band will be moved to [info]gingerpresley, and will be public. If you'd like to keep tabs on my band, feel free to friend that journal. I recently discovered that a google search for my band's name leads to my personal journal, and I'm just not comfortable with that. This is my solution. I hope it works. (I'll probably have to remove that from this post when I get this transition complete, or make this post friends-locked.)

*sigh*

This post is brought to you from the comfort of my own home, with my shiny new internet connection! This DSL stuff is WAY faster than my old dial-up connection! Woo!

Happy Valentine's day, y'all.

Now I'm gonna get my ass off the internet and into my baby's arms!

Guess Who?

Guess who's getting internet at home again on Thursday?

ME!

Guess who just realized you can post to LJ via text message, but has no clue how to do so?

ME!

Guess who's in a foul-ass mood for no particular reason?

Not only is the vending machine at work refusing to dispense product, it is speaking Spanish.

Oy.

In other news, not one single person noticed my stylin' new glasses today. Not even my sister. *pouts*

Me to Ty, last night: Well, this has been Best Weekend Ever in a row number....I lost count.
Ty: Seven.

Good god, that boy makes my heart do jumping jacks, for reasons far too numerous to list, though I may attempt said list some day.

The weekend involved a Three Beers gig (awkward. I left at set break. Strange how those boys are totally cool to me when Ry's not around, but several of them won't even look at me sideways when he is. Douchebags.), a kick-ass impromptu pool party (with tequila!) at my mom's after I learned she was out of town, called her and said "So...you're out of town?" and she responded "Yup! Party Hardy!"), and TRANSFORMERS MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE, which I was SO not stoked to go see (but won the Best Girlfriend Ever award for), but actually quite enjoyed, even though I dreamed of Optimus Prime all night long. (Not a single sex dream, unfortunately, because that's one semi that I would totally DO.)

My computer doesn't feel good.

Help!

My Norton Antivirus is telling me that it has detected a virus on my computer, but that it is unable to repair it.

Where does that leave me? What can/should I do?

My computer still appears to be functioning, (I'm updating LJ with it, after all) but it IS acting up. I'm noticing icons that have appeared on my...whatever that little thing is in the lower right hand corner of the task bar with all the little icons (like for AIM, Norton, my ISP, etc.) that I can't get rid of, and it's been slower/locking up more often.

Geek friends! Help me! Please!

Ooops!

love me pig
So, in all of my frenzied picture posting last night, I left out a few details from the weekend.

Saturday afternoon, I got to hang out with Ed ([info]touretticmonkey) for a couple hours. We haven't had a chance to hang for a couple weeks, so it was awesome to see him. He made some delicious chili, (I'm always well-fed when Ed's around!) and then we took Hayley for a walk to a park to enjoy the gorgeous day. Getting to the park near his house requires walking past the sewage treatment facility, and there is a building on the property with a sign that says "Hog Pen" and has a picture of a pig on it.

In other news, Ryan and I had received a few Best Buy gift cards over the holidays, and we used them to purchase a.....device, I guess? that is a DVD/CD player, VCR, and receiver all in one, and came with surround-sound speakers. We got that all hooked up, and then Ryan figured out how to hook the computer up to it, too. I used to hate using the computer to listen to music, because our computer speakers were so crappy, but now listening to music on the computer=surround sound!! Awesome!! I am in love with i-tunes.

I do have a question, though. (Actually it's Ryan's question, but I told him I'd ask y'all). In i-tunes, what does "Consolidate Library" mean? Ryan was going to just try it and see what it does, but got nervous when it said that once done, it couldn't be undone. Help?

Last night, we de-Christmas-a-fied the house. One of the benefits of not going all-out on the holiday decorating is that it doesn't take nearly as much time or effort to tear it all down and pack it all away again. :)

Happy Tuesday, everybody!! :D

Y'mean, like, a pea pod?

So, Ryan got an ipod from his step-mom for Christmas. This is our first experience with such a device. After a rocky start, he got some stuff figured out (with some minor help from me, who faked my through knowing the first thing about an ipod). So, long story short, we now have itunes on our computer, and he has been playing with it non-stop, lol.

Last night, he was showing me some things with itunes, and I ended up spending like two hours getting music put from the Windows Media Player thingie to the itunes thingie. I have that part mastered, I think.

So, now that I have this itunes thing, I'm wanting to branch out a little with technological.....y'know, stuff.

This is going to sound like a ridiculous question, but I am 100% serious.

What's the deal with podcasts? :x

*looks for a button that says "delete LJ"*

Aaaarrrrggggghhhhhhxoichawsdogahpsogiawheopa!!!!

I'm only irritated, I'm not seriously considering deleting my LJ, so don't panic! Though I will say that I can now completely understand why people decide to just delete their journals and start new ones. If I wasn't so attached to having a record of the past couple years of my life, I'd be awfully tempted!

I think I had something else I was going to piss and moan about, too, but I guess I forgot. Lucky you.

Since I know a lot of people have been lax about reading/updating LJ over the holidays, I will probably mention a couple more times that if you are my mutual LJ friend and haven't done so already, you might want to check out this poll and select which of my shiny new filters you'd like to be included on.

I really like to think I'm fairly competent with finding my way around a computer. I mean, I fairly successfully maintain a livejournal, don't I?

I always struggle, however, finding Microsoft Word on my home computer. I can find it with ease on my Work Computer. I think I just figured out why I have a hard time finding it. On my home computer, it is not called "Microsoft Word". It's not located under the name "Microsoft Word" in "Programs". For some reason, it's called "Microsoft Works Word Processor". And by the time I realize that, and then, inevitably, remember that there's an icon for it on my desktop, (Oh yeah!! I know what "desktop" means!!) and then remember it's NOT the one that is with the little picture that looks like a calendar (because, that one is "Microsoft Works Calendar", but the only part I can see on each icon says "Microsoft Wo..", so it's an easy mistake), I get so frustrated about it that I forget what I wanted to do and end up writing a livejournal entry about my frustration with the whole thing, instead.
