A follow up to This Post
My new web is done! It's so, so much nicer now. I think Jake did a great job covering up the old one. There's one spot on my inner elbow where if I look hard enough, I can see about an inch-long raised line (scar tissue) from the old web, other than that, it's GONE! It took about two hours to complete. Getting tattooed on the elbow area is....not that much fun, so I'm glad that it's over with and I never have to be tattooed there again!
( Out with the old... )

Ginger Presley had our first "official" gig this past Saturday. It was a total trip, and a great warm up for our official "debut" this upcoming Saturday.
Our drummer, Sally, plays in a band with her brothers called Reimer Revolution (RXR). A friend of their's was throwing a "First Quarter Party" to celebrate Spring in their (very rural) home town. The party was held at the Rod & Gun club in their town, and there were four bands booked to play. We were scheduled second to last, with Reimer Revolution headlining the show.

These are the color group shots. Again, I would very much appreciate feedback and hearing which shots are your favorites, and which ones you think would be good for posters/fliers/promos/etc.

The ladies and I went through the four rolls of film that Emily shot of us on Sunday and picked out our favorite shots. I'm going to break this down into three posts and will put all the pics under a cut.

For the first post, individual shots.

Have I mentioned how much I love it that so many people in my circle of friends are musicians? It makes life so much fun. :)
Last Saturday night, we ended up having an after-bar party at our house. The party migrated to the basement (where most of our instruments are kept, and where my band, Ginger Presley, rehearses) and we had an all out jam at about 3 am that lasted about an hour. I'm sure my neighbors were pleased.
( Pictures! )
Edit: Aren't my basement curtains the most hideously awesome thing you've ever seen? They were here when we moved in, and I haven't gotten around to changing them yet, but I'm starting to actually find them...yeah. Just hideous.

So, yeah. My band (Ginger Presley) got up and played a couple of songs during Booger Presley's set break last night. It was awesome.

I was pretty nervous, but once we got going, I calmed down a bunch. That was SO much fun. People seemed to dig it, too. We had strangers coming up and telling us "great job!" throughout the rest of the night. :)
The after-bar festivities included a suggestion (by me) that we should play spin the bottle. I've always thought that was a game that should continue into adulthood, lol. My suggestion led to about two hours of various kisses, triple kisses, quadruple kisses, and making out. There are lots of fun pictures from that, too, but I doubt anyone wants to see them. ;)

Ryan and I decided a few weeks ago that there aren't nearly enough musical instruments in this house. Especially drums. We didn't have CLOSE to enough drums in this house, what with the two doumbeks, the bongos, and the 3 complete drum kits. :x
( So, we picked up these beauties. )
In addition to the lovely drums, we got a great deal on a digital recording unit. We had been talking for a while about getting one, so that we can record music right at our house.
The unit arrived about a week and a half ago, and the next night, we recorded our first song (a cover of "Change" by Blind Melon) within about an hour and a half! Ryan made the drum beat right on the unit, and recorded the bass track using our electric guitar. I recorded the guitar track and two vocal tracks (melody and harmony).
( Pictures! )
I've hung around in recording studios while Ryan has recorded before, but I've never actually been a part of the process, and it is really cool. It's amazing to hear a song come together, layer by layer, track by track. And I was pretty impressed with my guitar track! I was surprised at how....not sucky it was! My vocal tracks aren't my favorite, but I haven't sung into a microphone in several years, so it took some getting used to.
As soon as I figure out how, I'll try to post some of our recordings so you can have a listen. :)
I love it that Ryan gets such a good price on this sort of thing, being an employee of the music store and all. We decided to get all this, and then not get each other gifts for Christmas/Yule/What-have-you.

Last weekend, Ryan and I went to Kenosha, his home town, because his band was playing a gig at his Aunt's brother's bar there. We ended up going down Friday night to spend an extra night with his family.

I had posted about having my two long haired cats, Rowdy and Doxy, shaved-and I promised to try and take some pictures.
Sadie being re-introduced to the newly shaved Rowdy, AKA "The Dude", and now AKA "Mr. Legwarmers", and now AKA "Man Boobs", lol:

( Shaved Pussies! (That never stops being funny to me!) )

(Don't worry, I have an LJ-Cut, and I know how to use it!)
Under the cut are pictures of the new coffee table, end table, and pedestal table, which were part of my birthday gift.

Having picked out my own table set, I am finally starting to feel like this is my own home. I moved out of my parents house over 9 years ago, and have always had hand-me-down coffee tables. One of the things I've wanted to splurge on for my home forever has been my very own, brand new, coffee table set that *I* picked out.
When we first bought this house, my mom gave us the very gracious gift of all the furniture in her basement, which was previously her living room set when I was growing up. While I very much appreciated having furniture that matched and was in good shape, it felt like moving backwards, to have the living room from my childhood in my own adult home.
Since then, my mom gave me her new-old furniture (a sage green sectional couch/love seat thing, you can kind of see it in the coffee table picture), but I still had that old (ugly!) coffee and end table.
I feel like a big girl now!
