Weekend Project # 2

Play in Dirt
I decided to finally fix the landscaping clusterfuck of plants and weeds that decorated scared people away from the front of my house. Since I spend my most of my time in the backyard, that's where I focus most of my gardening energy, and a result, the "landscaping" in front of my house was a very sorry sight.

Rather than bore you with all of the details of my weeding, digging, planting, bordering, and muching, how about before and after pictures, hmmmm?

I was having one of those moments when I let something hurt my feelings, and I sit around feeling sorry for myself. I decided to stop moping, do some yoga and then play my guitar for a while, and remembered that I don't do either of those things nearly enough, and that doing them makes me feel good. I will do them more often.

I made myself a frozen pizza and opened myself a beer, and relished how the simple things in life can make me feel so much better.

New & Improved Web

A follow up to This Post

My new web is done! It's so, so much nicer now. I think Jake did a great job covering up the old one. There's one spot on my inner elbow where if I look hard enough, I can see about an inch-long raised line (scar tissue) from the old web, other than that, it's GONE! It took about two hours to complete. Getting tattooed on the elbow area is....not that much fun, so I'm glad that it's over with and I never have to be tattooed there again!

Out with the old... )

In with the new! )

It's tattoo season again!

Last year, about this time, I got a spiderweb tattoo on my elbow, along with a spider and a cricket.

I got a Dell.

My desktop at home died (again) this weekend. I had homework that was due at midnight last night that required a computer and internet access. I suppose I could have gone to the library, but instead, I went out and bought a new computer. I had been thinking about buying a laptop, but would have preferred to not be in the situation of walking into a store and needing to walk out with a computer.

So, I got a Dell laptop.

I'm still trying to get used to Vista, and verson of Microsoft Office I got. For the most part, I think it's a decent enough computer, but I don't really know what I'm talking about when it comes to that sort of thing. ;p

Wait! There's more!

Yesterday at work, I got to play with a hedgehog!! Hedgehogs are super cool in person. At least, this one was. She was nervous but affectionate, and extremely cute. If you've never pet a hedgehog, you should. Her texture was the most unique I've experienced, probably ever. Seriously. She was spikey, but not sharp spikey. And her owner was carrying her in the kind of little sling/pouch thing that I'll probably carry my offspring in, which won me over right way.

I love my job. :)

Nudge?

  • May. 9th, 2008 at 1:27 AM
Like it All
Whoah, I got nudged! I think that may have been my first "official" nudge! ;)

So, um, my immediate news is that I stopped at Taco Bell on my way home, and placed my usual order, and instead of the "NO sour cream", which I make very clear, I not only got sour cream, I got charged for EXTRA sour cream! Bunch of DICKS!!!

In other news, I've had a crazy busy week. I have to wake up in approximately 4 hours for the garage sale my sister & I are having at her house. She has Bloody Mary fixin's, and I have Mimosa fixin's, which should make the 4 hours of sleep run much smoother than usual.

I promise to make a proper update soon...I apparently deleted my "drunk post" icon, which means I need to mention within the body of the post that I am, in fact, drunk. Hey, an out of town friend's band was playing in town, what can I say?

I am now going to resort to possibly illegal tasks, and wait for my hot, hot boyfriend to get home and do me. :x

I hope the rest of you have had as awesome a day/night that I have. :)

I'm having that weird day-light-savings time confusion thing all over again today. I'm guessing today must be the day that "should have" been the time change?

So, um....pretty much the only thing I've seen on my friends page about the LJ-Strike is how frackin' dumb it is. Honestly, the only thing that irked me about the recent controversy was the censoring of the "popular interests" page (I am, after all, a bisexual who thinks faeries are pretty and likes boys and girls), but they had already fixed that before I even heard anything about the strike.

I dunno, maybe it's because I've had a paid account since about my second day on livejournal, but whatev. Strike on, strikers. Strike on.

In real news, remember how I gave you all permission to jump for joy about spring again? Well, I take it back. The first day of spring brought with it a blasted Winter Storm, and now all my green babies are hidden under a blanket of cold, white, devil spawn. Although the ultra-confused look on Sadie's face when she saw the snow this morning made it almost worthwhile. Almost.

Re: This Post

You are all allowed to jump for joy over spring again.

You see, upon doing some poking around in my flower beds today, I HAVE GREEN BABIES!!!! I have green baby tulips, and green baby day lilies, and green baby sedum, and probably other green babies that I have yet to uncover, since I haven't ventured into the backyard, since it is covered in poo.

YAY SPRING!

I also got offered a job today. I'll start it on Monday. More on that tomorrow!

First Date Revelations?

Reading a rather heated comment thread in a friend's journal, I got myself wondering....

There are "things" that should be disclosed to potential romantic partners, yes? I'm guessing that for some of those things, there is disagreement on *when* those things should be disclosed. There are other things that most of us can probably generally agree when they should be disclosed. (Example: STD Status should be disclosed prior to a sexual encounter, yes?)

To the person whose LJ this came from, I'm not picking on you, this just got my wheels a-turnin'.

My question to you, LJ friends, is what information do you believe should be disclosed prior to a first date?

Also, if there are items that would be a deal-breaker, for even just a first date, whose responsibility is it to determine whether or not those items are a factor for the potential date? For example, if I would absolutely never ever even consider a first date with a Catholic, should it be my responsibility to ask potential dates their religion? Or should all people, knowing that for some people, religion is a deal breaker, automatically disclose that to potential dates?

Ok. Go.

Do any of you read www.dooce.com? Yesterday, it was a friend's answer to the question: What is your favorite website? on a myspace survey. Since she's a real friend, and not just some random myspace wank, I followed the link, and I'm kind of hooked. I've been reading it working really, really hard all day.

Jumping on the bandwagon:

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on something, favorite type of underwear, explain an interest, whatever. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

Requested posts are not promised to be written in a timely fashion. ;p The security of the posts that result from this meme will depend on the topics. Topics about my personal life will be friends-locked. More general topics (i.e. last movie watched/book read, politics, religion, etc.) will be public.

Bad Day?

  • Mar. 12th, 2008 at 9:18 AM
life happens
I woke up in kind of a foul mood today. I didn't sleep well last night, due to a combination of unpleasant dreams and Ty tossing and turning. I got up late and had to rush to get ready, and then discovered I had a layer of ice to scrape off of my damn car. I was consumed with "woe is me" thoughts of how shitty the long work day ahead was going to be.

Then, on my way to work, I saw a house that had a car driven right into the front of it, and I realized my day would be just peachy!

I wish it was Sprummer

I think I just made up the word "Sprummer" which is, of course, a mash-up of Spring+Summer. I rule.

I'm all registered for my sprummer classes. I will be taking a Sociology Class (Marriage and Family-figured I could use a lesson, after my, y'know, divorce and all) and Intro to Chemical Dependency, to help me decide if I want to be addicted to drugs an AODA Counselor, which you can totally do with this sham of a prestigious degree, somehow.

After registering for class, I promptly went and bought myself a new back-pack. Did you know they make back-packs that are speshully designed for women, these days? Did you know that I will not buy one until they come in colors other than pink and powder blue?

In other news, Ty's work makes my front porch smell like sawdust, which I kind of love.

Friends friends!

[info]tinahasablog has introduced me to the "friend's friends" page, and subsequently cured my current bout of boredom.

I'd had a hankering for some fresh LJs to read, so this is just the ticket!

In other words, if I've just randomly added you, it's because I have awesome LJ friends, and they have awesome LJ friends, too! Y'know, YOU!

If you'd rather not reciprocate, no problem, just say the word and I'll un-do the add-age. But if you'll give me a chance, you'll find that I'm at least occasionally witty and/or silly, if you like that sort of thing. :)

My New Toy

I've finally been getting fucked in the ass by Sprint long enough to qualify for an upgrade! w00t! Of course, after finding the link for my new phone on line to post for you fine folks, I see that I'm getting no better a deal than a brand new customer, so it's a good thing I'm still bent over.

I got The Rumor.

The slide-out full keyboard is cool, but took some getting used to. You see, I'm accustomed to having to press keys multiple times for certain letters. So, out of habit, at first, the word "Hello" came out "Hheellllllooo". Slightly annoying. :/
